SIRI HERMANSEN, BORDERLINE
Logo for sound installation in Istanbul, March 2009
Client: Siri Hermansen
Design and calligraphy: Claudia C. Sandor
2009
The calligraphy is a mix between the Latin, Arabic and Hebrew alphabets.
Excerpt from the press release:
“Borderline is a three channelled sound installation transmitting one Muslim, one Christian and one Jewish prayer
through outdoor speakers. The speakers are placed in the air creating an invisible triangle
of sound. The prayers are
composed rhythmically, sometimes mixed harmoniously and sometimes colliding and overlap each other.
The prayers interfere with the
sound-scape of the place. It is performed in and when moving away from it,
the sound will melt into the
existing sound-scape of the city and disappear.” |
