Designpreis nomination
The logo I created for Heaven Scent has been nominated for the prestigious Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, Designpreis Deutschland 2011.

Continuing on that thread, I congratulate all the winners at ED-Awards, Rotterdam on Sunday 30 May. My partner Halvor Bodin received a diploma for his work together with Håvard Gjelseth on the website for the Oslo International Film Festival 2009.

Visuelt Awards
Intern at our office, Steffen Kørner Ludvigsen got a diploma at Visuelt
in the category Graphic Design/Catalogues and Brochures for the book Statoil art award 2009. Halvor Bodin and I were design consultants on the project. Congratulations!

Portfolio update
This March I made a book for my nephew Daniel, together with his grandmother, who came up with the idea and wrote the story. I did the design, illustration and pencil calligraphy.

I have just finished revamping the website for my family’s vineyard in the Badacsony district of Lake Balaton, Hungary. We rent out a newly renovated cottage that was a former press house/wine cellar. It is a great place to spend a quiet vacation!

The monograph Crispin Gurholt: Live Photo Volume II that I designed for Gurholt’s exhibition at the Stenersen Museum this winter and published by SKIRA Editore S.P.A., Milano at distributed by Thames & Hudson has now been released for international sale, at Rizzoli New York and at choice museum shops such as MoMA, New York; Tate Modern, London; Serpentine Gallery, London; and Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto.

Live Photo Volume II
that I designed for Gurholt’s exhibition at the Stenersen Museum this winter. Published by SKIRA Editore S.P.A., Milano, a paperback edition will be released for international distribution in April 2010. The hardcover version is available at selected bookstores and museum shops in Norway.

Steffen Kørner Ludvigsen, who interns at our studio this year, recently designed the Statoil art award catalogue 2009, with myself and Halvor Bodin as design consultants.

I have finally uploaded some images of the book I designed in 2006 about nutrition for kids from womb to teens, entitled Bare Barnemat!.

Thursday 21 January

Portfolio update: new work for Tromsø Gallery of Contemporary Art, material for the annual exhibitions Festival Exhibition/PolArt and the Polar Night Exhibition. The Festival Exhibition this year is with the acclaimed Swedish artist Annika Larsson. The exhibition is held in conjunction with the Tromsø International Film Festival (TIFF), 18–24 January, 2010.

This fall, I have also been working on the graphic identity and packaging for a new series of skincare/spa and gourmet products for BesteBakken called Naturally Norwegian. Here you can see a little sneak preview of the logos – the packaging is still in production so more information and visuals will be published when they are available.

Portfolio update:

New invitation and exhibition catalogue for Crispin Gurholt’s solo show at the Stenersen Museum, Oslo (29 October 2009–3 January 2010). The catalogue is published by Skira Editore S.P.A., Milano and will be distributed in selected bookstores/museum shops worldwide from Spring 2010. Norwegian release on October 29, 2009 at the exhibition opening.

Portfolio update:

I recently finished a digital catalogue for artist Liv Brita Malnes and an invitation to Crispin Gurholt’s new Live Photo installation Rom 120 at Ullevål University Hospital, Oslo. The installation will take place on Saturday 5 September from 16–18. Don’t miss it!

June projects include a poster I did for herStay’s Shanghai performance in June, in addition to a logo for Siri Hermansen’s exhibition Point of View at RAM Gallery, Oslo.

Claudia Graphic Design Studio wins Bronze

at European Design Awards 2009, Zürich. The Heaven Scent logo won the prize in the category Corporate Logo.

My colleague/partner Halvor Bodin won a Silver in the category Corporate Illustration for the illustration “smart fortwo”. The illustration was part of NO Magazine’s contribution to the book Sideways– a smart art project, created for the New York launch of the vehicle in USA in March 2008. Claudia C. Sandor and Halvor Bodin curated NO Magazine’s contribution to the book. Congrats!

My work has been included in a new book by Harper Collins, Color & Layout: From Asparagus White to Burnt Olive. By Otto & Olaf and Nacho Martí, Barcelona. My work for Tone Hansen’s book Megamonstermuseum happily represents the colour Canary Yellow.

Portfolio update – yes, I have been working this year! – a logo for Siri Hermansen’s exhibition in Istanbul in March, various printed material for Tromsø Art Gallery (the spring/summer program, invitations to January and April exhibitions), no24, Sesong Spring/Summer Catalogue 2009. And there is more to come.

Right now I am working on another project with Siri Hermansen, for her exhibition Point of View, that opens at RAM Gallery on Friday April 1 – Labour Day.

I am also working on a catalogue for another amazing artist – Liv Brita Malnes.

NO Agency has done its first advertizing campaign, for Steen & Strøm.
It appears on street cars, banners and boards all across town.

Just got back from New York. It was incredible—as always. I am actually glad to not live there—such a treat to visit! Art, food, parties… need I say more?

We are now working on a new campaign for Steen & Strøm. It will be all over town in a couple of weeks. Fun!

In addition, the final touches are being put on no19. Anders is immersed in Sesong Spring/Summer 2008.

Release of Sideways. A Smart Art Project. See Hal’s photos from the release here. no was invited as one of eleven international magazines to curate a part of the anthology published by Die Gestalten Verlag and Smart. I curated no’s contribution together with my partner Halvor Bodin. The 248-page book features work by one hundred artists in an attempt to evaluate the way we think about the environment and mobility. Other participating magazines are Baby Baby Baby (Mexico), Blend (the Netherlands), Drome (Italy), INDIE(Austria), NEO2 (Spain), TOKION (USA), +81 (Japan), Dazed & Confused (England), Style 100 (Germany), and WAD (France).

Two new editions of no – no15 and no16 – and Sesong Fall 2007 for Steen & Strøm have been published. We are now working on no17 and the Sesong Christmas Catalogue 2007.

I designed the book Norsk funkis , a 240-page book on Norwegian Functionalism. The photographer is no other than the reknowned Jiri Havran. The book will soon be on the market.

I have also done the report SALDO – Et samfunnsregnskap for LDO/Likestillings- og diskrimineringsombudet, together with Halvor Bodin.

Sad to say, I am incredibly behind on my portfolio; I am in the process of creating a new system, including a logo change, but there seems to never be any time to do this… Patience!
